Experience Rainbow Songs at Artbarn

For the past year this popular music program has been providing exciting interactive music programs for children from birth to 5 years old at Artbarn on Fridays. This winter there will be a Saturday morning offered as well in our sunny, new room. Their 40 minute classes are taught in a fun, non-competitive and inclusive environment that encourages the participation of children and adults alike. We have timed our Mini-MiniArt classes to correspond with the music class timing. Take part in both classes and save 15% off your Artbarn fee!

Raising Artbarn 2011 was a huge success! Thanks to the generosity of our community we raised over $7000 at the event! Special thanks are in order to our major Corporate Donors – The Al Green Gallery, BDO Dunwoody, Bizzarri Family, Sherwin-Williams Canada Inc., and Singer Kwinter Personal Injury Lawyers. We had 34 wonderful artists contribute to our Mystery Art Sale and 41 companies and individuals contributed to the Silent Auction and donated food. All the art looked amazing and it was a fun evening for everyone.

Please join us on Thursday, December 1st from 6 to 9pm for an exciting evening of art and celebration! We have some fabulous items for the Silent Auction and the Mystery Artists have been very creative. There are 60 children’s paintings on display as well. Tickets are available at the door for admission or the Mystery Sale!

Painting The New Artbarn

Thanks to our new corporate partner, Sherwin-Williams Canada Inc., we now have a fresh studio! Pictured here is Sales Rep, Anthony Naranjo who arranged for the paint donation and painter Marlon Henriquez. Hold the Date – Raising Artbarn on Dec.1

2011 is an exciting year for Artbarn! We have more than doubled our space, making more room for adults to pursue a passion or learn a new technique. A wider variety of adult classes and workshops including photography and clay is planned for the new year. Join us on Thursday, Dec.1 from 6-9pm to support a new, expanded Artbarn. Raising Artbarn 2011 will bring together our arty community for a fun ‘barn raising’ including a Mystery Art Sale and Silent Auction. With your support our new space will provide for more inspired learning, encourage more students to benefit from our scholarship programs and create a stronger community of artists and art-interested people.

Simply Babies Photos Coming to Artbarn

Bring your little ones for some arty fun and create your own magical photos with a professional photographer – Andrew Taylor. Art Strollers is partnering with Artbarn School to have a photography happening in our new renovated studio on Nov.19. Photographer Andrew Taylor captures the intimate moments between parent and child. The result – beautiful and natural images showing both parents and children as they interact together and engage in an art activity. At the end of the session each parent will receive digital file images. On average, parents can expect 25-40 images from each session. For more info on the sessions visit artstrollers.com.

Expansion News!

Our expansion is going really well thanks to the following volunteers and businesses!

First, we would like to thank Jeff Malenfant of Titan-York Realty Corp. for negotiating the lease and organizing the Demolition Party. Other demolition volunteers were Elizabeth McMaster, Mark Hutton, Danielle Sampson, Geoff Marr and William McMaster. Nancy Joy Wilson donated her time to draw the plans and advise on the design. Home Depot Leaside donated $100 worth of building materials. The Door Store donated $100 towards an authentic barn door. Rob Maltais of Rob’s Renovations donated a corian counter and some lumber.

Incredible Cartooning Returns this Fall!

Check out these amazing animations done by our young cartoonists last term! Now we are offering this exciting course for students who want to improve their drawing skills and learn animations from a pro, Mike Pszczonak.

We are expanding the school and plan to offer many more classes and workshops this Fall! Classes start on September 15th.
